Greetings from Great Lakes Energy – your electric provider! We’re contacting you to share some exciting news about broadband initiatives in Allegan County and rally your support.
The federal government has allocated American Rescue Funds (ARPA) to local counties and townships. Allegan County has been granted millions of dollars of ARPA funds and is anticipating allocating the majority of this funding on broadband projects. This is great news for rural residents like yourself!
Your County officials are exploring different ways to distribute the funding and are considering various internet service providers who can build broadband internet services out to rural areas.
As you may know, Great Lakes Energy has started building our Truestream fiber broadband network in parts of eastern Allegan County already. Our project is engineered and ready to expand into all areas we serve in rural Allegan County and could do so faster if we had more financial support, such as ARPA funds from Allegan County.
This is where you come in!
Your county leaders will be making decisions on who to provide the millions of dollars to and your input matters. Here’s how you can help voice your support for Truestream:

- Attend the Allegan County Broadband Action Workgroup Meetings. The meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 4-5:30 pm. For more information visit the Board Calendar for more details or the Broadband Action Workgroup section.
- Attend the Allegan County Board of Commissioners Meetings.
- Contact your County Commissioner to express your interest and need for fiber broadband internet from Truestream, powered by Great Lakes Energy.
