Technology is constantly evolving. From time to time, we perform hardware and software upgrades to provide new or improved services.

Average: 6-8 hrs.

Software Maintenance

Sometimes, we find a bug in the software that could cause a service outage. When we identify these bugs, we proactively perform maintenance to minimize service disruptions.

Average: 1-4 hrs.

Planned Outage 7/11/26

WHO: Truestreamers in the Boyne and Kalkaska areas, including our Advance, Barnard, Boyne City, Cenral Lake, Corwith, Deer Lake, East Jordan, Elmira, Eastport, Clam River, Mancelona, and Manistee River service areas.

DETAILS: We plan to perform system maintenance on the morning of 7/11/25.  This maintenance will disrupt internet and voice service for all members in the Advance, Barnard, Boyne City, Central Lake, Corwith, Deer Lake, East Jordan, Elmira, Eastport, Clam River, Mancelona, and Manistee River service areas. WHO: Truestreamers with voice services.

DATE: 7/8/25 – 7/10/25

TIME: 11:00 PM – 3:00 AM on 7/9/25

ESTIMATED RESTORATION:

    • Work will begin on Tuesday, July 8, from 11:00 PM until approximately 3:00 AM on Wednesday, July 9.
    • Work will resume on Wednesday, July 9, from 11:00 PM until approximately 1:00 AM on Thursday, July 10.

DETAILS: We plan to perform system maintenance and upgrade our Voice service network to ensure we provide the best service possible.

**Please note**There will be no impact on Internet services during this maintenance. Subscribers who have Voice services may experience extended post dial delay or may momentarily lose connection during the following timeframes.

WHO: Cedar Springs area Truestreamers

DATE: 7/1/25

TOTAL OUTAGES: 110

OUTAGE: Started at roughly 9:30 PM on 7/1/25

ESTIMATED RESTORATION: 7/2/25

DETAILS: There is a fiber cut in the area. A fiber splicing crew will begin repairs to the damaged line in the early morning of 7/2/25.

WHO: Antrim, Charlevoix, Crawford, Emmet and primarily Otsego counties

DATE: 5/4/25

DETAILS: Repairs begin at the substation, moves to the mainlines, then outward to the distribution lines, and finally to the terminals on the pole that connect service lines to homes—often called “the drop.” Even if there’s no visible damage near your home, issues further down the line can delay your service.

DETAILS: Much like the electrical infrastructure, we need to fully assess the state of our fiber infrastructure. We are evaluating our critical mainline infrastructure and are prioritizing repairs. Fiber cuts are being assessed as electrical restoration progresses. There are hundreds of fiber cuts, and we won’t know the full extent of the damage until all electrical restoration is complete.

Fiber Line Repair

Average Splicing Times

When a fiber line is broken, a lot goes into the delicate process of matching and splicing the glass fiber lines back together. Factors such as weather conditions, location of the break, and availability of the necessary materials to the restoration site all play a role. 

Mainline 432 count – 10-16 hrs.

Mainline 288 count – 8-10 hrs.

Mainline 144 count – 6-8 hrs.

Distribution 96 count – 4-6 hrs.
