Timelines are based on the current list of registrations from jointruestream.com, which changes daily, and the current number of crews working. These dates are for drop construction progress. The drop brings the fiber line from the mainline to the side of the home. The drop generally follows the path of your electric, overhead, or underground.
Estimated times are for construction only. Installations in the home will follow AFTER construction has been completed, and we have confirmed the fiber line to your home is operational.
Now let’s get to the important stuff!
Construction is in full swing. Crews have completed over 520 drops and we have added 459 new Truestreamers so far this month!

Fielding Exploration
Hart, Newaygo, and Wayland
- Fielding has Begun!
- Contractors will visit each Great Lakes Energy service location to collect data, including the type of residence, pole information, and other data related to our infrastructure. This information helps us design our fiber system.
- The expansion process takes place in three phases.
- Phase 1 – preliminary fielding. This step started in the Hart area in mid-May and will move south. We expected fielding to wrap up by the end of the year. Once complete, we will analyze the results and make a recommendation to the GLE board of directors on the next steps. If the decision is made to move forward, the board will approve a budget, and we will proceed to the next phase.
- Phase 2 – construction. If approved, the mainline construction will begin in mid-2021.
- Phase 3 – installations. In-home installations would then begin in 2022.
- Hart, Newaygo, and Wayland are now divided into smaller areas – visit jointruestream.com to view your new area name!
