New and innovative ways to accomplish your goals tend to surface in times of crisis. Whether it’s the ability to piece together a meal with some weird canned goods in your cupboards – yes, we’ve done that and it wasn’t half bad.  Or finding a way to exercise at home when you thought it wasn’t possible, like the guy we saw doing pull-ups from a tree outside, creative solutions to challenges come in all shapes and sizes, especially in times like these.

The challenge to bring high-speed internet to rural areas isn’t new, in fact, it’s one we’ve been working on for years. Now with the onset of COVID-19, we’re presented with even more hurdles beyond what it takes to build the Truestream fiber network to rural Great Lakes Energy members…..as if that wasn’t enough!

Luckily (we could use some of this right now), we’ve got some pretty dedicated employees who found a solution to be able to continue our in-home installations without actually coming inside your home.

In order to continue meeting the needs of those in our community who need internet service now more than ever, we have implemented an innovative assisted self-installation option that eliminates the need for a technician to enter your home. Due to ongoing concerns for the health and safety of our employees, their families, and our Truestream customers, we will only be performing assisted self-installations until further notice.

So, if you’re a do-it-yourselfer with a bit of tech knowledge, we want to work with you – from a safe distance – to bring you the high-speed connection you need.

Sounds pretty great, huh? We think it is, but it does involve a little know-how on your part. If the exterior fiber construction is completed to your home and our network is operational in your area, we will be in touch to determine if you are interested in proceeding with assisted self-installation. There are some basic tools and skills you’ll need to complete the in-home work. Don’t worry, a Truestream technician will be on-site, but outside, to guide the process. If you are not comfortable with assisted self-installation, you will be placed on a waiting list for in-home installation when that service resumes. Assisted self-installation is only available for internet service at this time, voice service installation must be completed by a technician in the home at a later time.

At Truestream we’re committed to finding new solutions to meet the challenging needs of rural Great Lakes Energy members. (And maybe we’ll even find a few new recipes along the way.) Thank you for your continued support and patience as we work to bring you the most reliable and fastest internet and voice solution in Michigan.
