Truestream Fiber Network Expanding Into Lake, Manistee and Mason Counties
BOYNE CITY, Mich. | Dec. 18, 2025 – Great Lakes Energy (GLE) is expanding its Truestream fiber network into rural parts of Lake, Manistee, and Mason counties. Construction of the network is underway, with home connections for fiber internet and voice services expected to begin as early as spring 2026.
GLE members in the newly announced areas who register by Feb. 13 and complete required paperwork by Feb. 27 will receive priority for construction and qualify for free in-home installation when they take service—a $149 value.
Members can check construction progress using Truestream’s interactive map at truestreamfiber.com/status-map/. By entering an address, members can see their service area and the current construction phase.
The fiber network delivers symmetrical speeds up to 1 gig (symmetrical speeds for upload and download), massive bandwidth, unlimited internet and voice services, no data caps, and no contracts. The service supports remote work, online education, streaming, gaming, virtual healthcare visits, and more. Business service is also available.
Truestream is available exclusively to GLE electric cooperative members. Rural homeowners and businesses in the Scottville service district, which includes rural areas served by GLE in parts of Mason, Lake and Manistee counties, can receive this life-changing service. Construction is a multi-step, multi-year process that begins with building a mainline fiber route through the service area. GLE members are encouraged to visit truestreamfiber.com to learn more.
More than 28,700 GLE members in parts of Allegan, Antrim, Barry, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Crawford, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Kent, Mecosta, Montcalm, Montmorency, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, Oscoda, and Otsego counties are enjoying Truestream’s life-changing services, some experiencing high-speed, reliable internet and voice service at home for the first time.
