Happy New Year!
As we wave goodbye to 2018, we look back with pride and joy at what we have accomplished with Truestream so far! We are just as excited as you, our Great Lakes Energy members, to bring high-speed fiber internet to rural Michigan. As we look forward to 2019, we realize the future really is here. Rest assured, we are working hard on planning and evaluating the scope and timelines for the fiber build, and we want to share that with you.
In many ways, the last six months have felt like a whirlwind. We began construction of our main fiber lines, that connects our electrical substations. In the process, we met our goal of connecting 50 lucky subscribers off the main line before the end of 2018. We are continuing to connect folks off the main lines through the winter and into the spring.
Your Interest
Many of you know, we use demand to gauge interest. That is just oneof the factors we are taking into consideration with a project this large. Thank you for spreading the word and continuing to encourage your friends, family, and neighbors to register their interest!
Phase 1
With all the planning and resources needed, we want to be smart about it. We are finalizing constructions plans for our entire Petoskey service area now. Petoskey will be broken down into three phases. We expect to complete Phase 1 in 2019 – which include Hayes, Resort, Petoskey West and Petoskey East. Construction in these areas will begin in the spring, with in-home installations expected to begin mid to late summer. Please be patient throughout this process, we cannot get to everyone at the same time so both construction and installation scheduling will extend through the end of the year and into 2020.
If you are interested in free installation (who isn’t?) – you need to register your no obligation interest now! If you have not registered when we complete construction in your area, never fear: we will come back to connect you to life-changing fiber internet for an installation fee of $149.
Phase 2
Are you in our Petoskey service area but not a part of Phase 1? We understand your frustrations. Please know we are working on design and construction plans for Phase 2 as well. That includes Harbor Springs, West Traverse, Cross Village, Oden, Pellston North, and Pellston South.
Service options for Beaver Island are still under review. We will have more details for you on Phase 2 and Beaver Island later this year.
Your Area Could Be Next
Outside our Petoskey service area? We still want to hear from you! Keep encouraging your friends, family, and neighbors to register their interest. We plan to begin construction in a new service area as soon as 2020 -your area could be next!
