UPDATE:

June 11, 2020

On March 17th, Great Lakes Energy and Truestream closed entry to all lobbies and drive-thru windows to its members. This decision was made out of our responsibility for the safety of our members and employees, and to assist in reducing the opportunity for the spread of COVID-19. Since then, we have taken measures to more adequately outfit our facilities for a new normal. With these new initiatives in place, we are happy to announce that GLE lobbies and drive-thru windows are now open to serve our members.

Facilities Reopened for Member Access
Lobbies Drive-Thru Windows
  • Boyne City
  • Kalkaska
  • Reed City
  • Scottville
  • Waters
  • Wayland
  • Hart
  • Newaygo
  • Scottville

In coordination with the reopening of our facilities, lobbies have been fitted with plexiglass barriers at service counters to better separate our members and member service coordinators. Signage has been installed on entrances and within parking spaces directing members to limit entry to a single person at a time within smaller lobbies. We have also designated specific doors for exit and entry to better accommodate member traffic flow while maintaining social distancing. We ask that members be good neighbors by wearing facemasks and practicing social distancing measures while using our facilities.

Truestream in-home installations will resume Monday, May 18. To ensure your safety and the safety of our techs, we will ask a series of screening questions, follow proper social distancing, and wear personal protective equipment.

If you are eligible for installation, we will contact you to schedule an appointment.

We will continue assisted self-installation for those members not comfortable with a technician entering their home, or for those with recent travel history.

Construction and planning activity for the Truestream fiber network continues. Field technicians are visiting locations to check meters and gather engineering data. They will not knock on doors, will wear gloves, and maintain a distance of six feet from others.

At Great Lakes Energy and Truestream, the safety and well-being of our members, employees, and their families is our top priority. We are committed to providing critical electricity and fiber internet and voice services to rural Michigan homes and businesses.

Effective Monday, March 17, our lobbies and drive-thru windows will be closed until further notice. We are taking these steps to limit face-to-face contact as we do our part to stop the spread of COVID-19. Our business operations will continue, including our field operations, dispatch center, and call center. We have activated our emergency response plan and do not anticipate any disruption in the service our members expect and deserve.

We encourage all members to do their part in stopping the spread of COVID-19 and to use online or phone options for payments and other service requests. Now is the time to establish an online account to pay your bill or report an outage or service need. We ask that anyone who is feeling sick to avoid contact with our workers and reschedule appointments.

We are working with members who may be impacted financially by COVID-19 and can provide access to assistance resources. Members who need to make payment arrangements or reschedule field or service appointments can contact us at 888-485-2537. Our emergency response team is actively monitoring state and national events, and we will provide updates as they arise.

March 13, 2020

Truestream, powered by Great Lakes Energy, is committed to changing lives with high-speed internet and voice services.  With that, we also want to ensure the safety of our employees, their families, and our customers.

As the nation responds to COVID-19, we are also taking precautionary measures to protect our employees and customers in order to help prevent the spread of the virus.

  • Our business operations will continue. All in-home installations and service appointments will proceed as planned until further notice. We do ask any customer who is not feeling well or has a sick family member in the home to please call and reschedule your appointment.
  • We are limiting employee business travel and exposure to others at large events. We will be leveraging technology for meetings or remote work as the need arises.
  • We are following guidelines recommended by state and national agencies regarding proper disinfection of our facilities and encouraging employees to follow recommended protocols for proper hygiene. In-home technicians may be using disinfection supplies in homes and will not be shaking hands with customers.

Updates will be shared through our website and social media channels.

The team at Truestream, Great Lakes Energy and our board of directors remain dedicated to providing you with the service you need and deserve.

Thank you.
