You’ve registered and returned your site plan – now what?

Now, it gets real, and the exciting stuff starts happening. We start the construction to the home process. Your order will move to our drop technician, who will design the path our fiber line will take from the mainline to your location. There is no need to be home for this process.

If your electric service is underground, your fiber line well be as well. They will look for things like:

  • Items marked on your site plan we need to avoid.
  • The optimal route to bring the fiber line to your location.
  • The ideal placement of the gray house box at your location.

Our drop technician will plan and design the proposed fiber route. Weather permitting, the drop technician will also mark the proposed fiber path with white flags, and the proposed gray house box location with a sticker.

Once they mark the proposed path with white flags, they will also leave a little goodie bag, including flags for your use. Hold on to them until the next step – then you can use them to mark your underground items!

If you know the proposed route goes through an existing private underground facility, like a pet fence, propane line, sprinkler system, satellite/internet service, etc., please let us know as soon as possible.

If your electric service is overhead, your fiber line will be as well. They will look for things like:

  • Is tree trimming needed?
  • Does the line height meet code requirements?
  • The ideal placement of the gray house box at your location.
  • Is the meter on the home, or at a separate location?

The drop technician will also mark the proposed gray house box location with a sticker. If your meter is on a pole or an outbuilding, underground work may be required.

In the next post, we’ll dive into the Underground MISS DIG process.
